IOANNIS ASLANIDES EYE CLINIC

Dr. Ioannis M Aslanides, MD, PhD, F.R.C.Ophth, MBA, President of the Hellenic College of Ophthalmology.

The founder and medical director of Emmetropia SA finished his residency in London in 1992.

From 1992 to 1996 he completed his PhD thesis at Weill- Cornell Medical College New York, USA on “Very high frequency Ultrasound in Refractive Surgery”.

Further to his refractive training IM Aslanides aquired a robust clinical training in other fields of Ophthalmology in USA.

1995-1996 subspecialized in “Neuro-Ophthalmology” at the SUNY (State University New York).

1996-1997 subspecilized in “Glaucoma” at the renowned Wills Eye Hospital, Thomas Jefferson University ,Philadelphia, USA.

1997-1999 subspecialized in “Diseases of Retina and Macula” at the University of Toronto, Canada. 

1999-2000 Holder of Onassis Foundation Grant, subspecializes in “Refractive Surgery of Anterior Segment of the Eye” at the university of Newcastle, in Great Britain.

2001-2004 Returns back to Greece as Medical Director of Refractive Surgery at the Vardinoyanio Eye Institute, Medical College University of Crete.

Since 2005 he has founded and is Medical Director of the Emmetropia, based in Heraklion, Crete.

Dr. IM Aslanides has active participation in over 300 publications, abstracts, presentations, or book chapters at international level and he is fellow of The Royal college of Ophthalmologists. Has performed over 10000 refractive and other eye surgical cases and has trained a large number of refractive surgeons from all over the world.

Dr. IM Aslanides is Clinical Assistant in Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medical College New York, USA, visiting professor at Wenzhou Medical University, China and acts as a scientific consultant in laser techonology industry and in imaging systems in Ophthalmology.

Dr. IM Aslanides is member of the Scientific Committee Member of the Hellenic Olympic Committee.
