PHAKIC INTRAOCULAR LENS SURGERY

Phakic Intraocular Lens (IOL) Implantation

It is a surgical method for dealing with high refractive errors. It differs from refractive laser surgery for myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism as a lens is implanted in the eye without remodeling the cornea. The lens is implanted through a small incision at the periphery of the cornea in a similar way to implanting the lens into the cataract surgery. Unlike cataract surgery and replacement of the natural lens of the eye, the natural lens is not removed during surgery.
