The cataract is treated only surgically. The method that has been applied in recent years uses ultrasound. With this method the crystalline lens is fluidized and aspirated.
Then a small artificial lens, the intraocular lens, is replacing it ensuring vision similar to that before the cataract. The method is short, painless and anesthesia is done locally with drops.
Unlike in the past, cataract surgery should be done earlier before its 'ripening' to avoid possible complications.
